CANADA EXPRESS ENTRY

Express Entry is an online system that helps manage the applications of skilled workers who want to live in Canada permanently. The federal government decides if a candidate is eligible for a programme run by Express Entry after the candidate fills out an online profile. Eligible candidates are put into the Express Entry pool and ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The government uses the CRS, which is a points-based system, to evaluate and rank candidates in the Express Entry pool. The CRS score is figured out by taking into account a candidate’s age, education, work experience, language skills, and other things.

About once every two weeks, the Canadian government chooses the top Express Entry candidates and sends them an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

How does Express Entry work?

Express Entry is easy to use and is made up of two main steps. In the first big step, people who are eligible for Express Entry tell the Canadian government that they want to become permanent residents of Canada.

In the second big step, the Canadian government invites the people with the highest scores to come live there. Here is a step-by-step guide to submitting your Express Entry profile and getting a permanent resident visa to move to Canada:

Step 1: Check to see if you can use Express Entry.

Step 2: Get an Educational Credential Assessment and finish your language test (ECA).

Step 3: Fill out your profile on the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada website (IRCC).

Step 4: Wait to find out if IRCC sends you an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Step 5: Send your completed Application for Permanent Residence (APR) to IRCC by the deadline and pay your fees. As part of this step, you need to bring your medical exam and police certificates. The IRCC will then send you a confirmation that it received your form (AOR).

Step 6: Give IRCC your biometrics when they ask for them.

Step 7: Wait for the IRCC to decide on your APR. The IRCC tries to finish applications in less than 6 months.

Once your application is accepted, you will get a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and, if you are from a country that needs a visa, a permanent resident visa so that you can travel to Canada and finish your landing.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

A profile for Express Entry can be used for up to a year. If you get an ITA, you can expect the Canadian government to process your application for permanent residence within six months. When a complete application for permanent residence is sent to the government, that’s when the processing time starts to be counted. The time to process an application ends when a final decision is made about it. If a candidate doesn’t get an ITA within a year of making their Express Entry profile, they can just resubmit their profile if they are still eligible.

PROS VS CON OF EXPRESS RENTRY

Express Entry has both pros and cons, but the pros are much more important than the cons.

New Zealand and Australia were the ones who gave Canada the idea for Express Entry. In 2004, New Zealand was the first country to start a “Expression of Interest” system, and in 2012, Australia did the same.

Canada started Express Entry in 2015 to improve how it handles applications from skilled workers and make the process better for people who want to move there. Before Express Entry, Canada’s application system was “first come, first served.” The problem with the old model is that far more applications were sent in each year than there were spots for skilled workers to come to the U.S. So, people who were chosen usually had to wait a few years for IRCC to give them a visa to live there permanently.

Express Entry was made by IRCC so that it could give permanent resident visas to successful applicants much faster. Now, it can give visas to successful applicants in 6 months, while it used to take 6 years with the old system.

Express Entry is good for immigrant candidates because the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is based on a lot of research done by the Canadian government to find out what traits help immigrants do well in Canada and get good jobs. On the Canadian job market, immigrants who are young to middle-aged, have a lot of education, professional work experience, and good English and/or French skills do very well. Research done by the IRCC since 2015 shows that Express Entry immigrants do a very good job in the job market.

People who come to Canada through Express Entry can be sure that they will be in a good position to get a professional job there in the future.

The biggest problem with Express Entry is that it doesn’t guarantee that people who want to immigrate will get an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Under the old system, candidates were supposed to get a permanent resident visa if they met all of the criteria for being eligible and admissible.

Under Express Entry, the only people who can get a permanent resident visa are those with the highest CRS scores. On the bright side, Express Entry draws happen often, usually every two weeks, so you have many chances to get an invitation to become a permanent resident.

You can always try to raise your CRS score by getting a job offer in Canada, a provincial nomination, studying in Canada, getting more professional work experience that counts, or getting a better score on your English or French language test.

Canada has more than 100 ways for skilled workers to move there, in addition to Express Entry.

HOW CAN I GET INTO THE EXPRESS ENTRY PROGRAMME?

You can become eligible for Express Entry in a number of ways. The first thing you can do is figure out why you don’t qualify right now. For example, you might not be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) because you don’t meet one or more of the FSWP’s minimum work, language ability, or education requirements. The first step in making an Express Entry profile is to talk about why you are not eligible.

The second big thing you can do is look for a way to become a permanent resident of Canada through education. To be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) programme, you must have worked in Canada for at least one year in the last three years and meet the minimum language requirements. You can qualify for the CEC and, by extension, Express Entry if you study in Canada and then work there after you finish your studies. With this method, you will also get more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points because of your education and work experience in Canada.

If you don’t qualify for Express Entry, you have many other options. Canada has over 100 different ways for skilled workers to come to the country.

WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE FOR MOVING TO CANADA?

Canada has more than 100 ways for skilled workers to get a permanent resident visa if they want to move there. You can do one or all of the following at the same time:

  • Express Entry: Most skilled workers who move to Canada do so through Express Entry.
  • Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): This is the second most important way for skilled workers to come to Canada.
  • Quebec: To get skilled workers, the province of Quebec runs its own immigration system.
  • Other Federal Immigration Programs: IRCC has more ways for skilled workers to get into the country than its Express Entry programmes. You could move to Canada’s Atlantic provinces, rural areas, or the north, work as a carer, work in the agri-food industry, start your own business, or be self-employed.
  • Pursue a Study Pathway: Studying in Canada is one of the best ways to get a permanent resident visa through one of the other ways listed above.
  • Work in Canada: If you already have a job offer in Canada, you can start the process of becoming an immigrant by moving there with a work permit and then using one of the above options to become an immigrant.

How can I improve my Express Entry CRS score?

Ways to improve your Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System score include:

  • Ensure you claim all the CRS points you are eligible for
  • Improve your language test score
  • Have your spouse as the principal applicant
  • Obtain more education
  • Obtain more work experience
  • Study and work in Canada

HOW CAN I IMPROVE MY EXPRESS ENTRY SCORE THE MOST?

Get a provincial nomination. This is the best way to raise your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

You can do this by applying right away to a PNP stream that works with Express Entry. You can also join the Express Entry pool so that a province might invite you to apply through their PNP. Getting a provincial nomination will give you 600 more CRS points, which will make sure that IRCC sends you an invitation to apply for permanent residence. If you get a valid job offer through Express Entry, you can get 50 or 200 more CRS points. Getting the best possible score on your English or French test is another important way to raise your Express Entry CRS score. The CRS is based mostly on language.

What do I need to submit my Express Entry profile?

When submitting your Express Entry profile, IRCC will ask you for information from the following documents:

  • your passport or travel document
  • language test results
  • proof of Canadian education or your educational credential assessment (ECA) report
  • proof of funds
  • provincial nomination (if you have one)
  • written job offer from an employer in Canada (if you have one)
