TOURIST/ VISITOR VISA
What is a Tourist/Visitor Visa for Canada?
The Canada Visitor Visa is a temporary resident visa for Canada that lets the holder do things like:
- Canadian tourism or vacations.
- Going to see family.
With a Canada Tourist Visa, you can go to a Canadian port of entry and ask for permission to enter the country. Based on your documents and situation, the Border Patrol Officers are the only ones who can let you in or turn you away.
If you have a Visitor visa to Canada and the officers find that you don’t have any criminal plans, you will be able to pass through the port of entry and start your vacation or visit with family in Canada.
Most travellers will need a Visitor visa to get into Canada, but citizens of some countries only need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) or are completely exempt and can just use their passports to get in without a visa.
What are the requirements to get a tourist visa for Canada?
The person who wants a Canada Tourist Visa must meet certain requirements. Whether or not someone meets these requirements, they can apply for and hold the visa.
